World Book Day
What a fabulous day we had for World Book day – with all the children making an outstanding effort in their costumes. We had the ugly bug ball for the Foundation Stage Unit – Thank you Mrs Kendell for taking time from the busy year 6 schedule to help organise. The children investigated bugs, tasted honey, read non-fiction books, enjoyed a spider cake while listening to a story and finished with a dance (with some of the year 6 buddies joining us!) .
The story boxes were judged during the morning which was an incredibly hard job as everyone made such an effort. Father Mark also looked through the boxes in the afternoon and was delighted with the results.
During the afternoon, the school were really happy to have been able to welcome the lovely Laura Wall, a local artist and author, who read and drew to the amazement of the children. She has kindly donated a set of books to the school library and I know many children are attempting to draw the characters today. We will be sending an email with these over to Laura who said she loves to receive such things – I don’t think she realises just how many there wil

On 20th September we celebrated Roald Dahl's 100th Birthday by dressing up as our favourite characters and taking part in Roald Dahl based activities throughout the day. A huge well done to everyone for the efforts with dressing up. A splendid day was had by all!

Music in Arts Workshop
On Thursday 18th June the children in Year 5 had a visiting artist come in and complete some work with them. Her name was Sara and she was helping them respond artistically to music.
The children began by listening to music and then drawing instruments they could hear in it. They also had the opportunity to play them during the morning.
The children were split into two groups. One group were listening to music and creating a big collage based on their emotions and reactions to the music. The other group were designing OLSP’s section of the overall piece of art work that is begin produced across all the schools involved in the project. The children really enjoyed this day.
